About the Installation
Signs of Love. Pearls of Memories unfolds as an immersive, participatory environment where memory and connection become physical, emotional, and collective experiences. Presented as part of DesignTO 2026, the installation brings together two distinct artistic languages by Yury Goncharov and Alina Tacmelova, forming a shared space that invites reflection, vulnerability, and presence.
The exhibition is conceived as a living dialogue between inner and outer worlds. Pearls of Memories guides visitors inward — toward memory, slowness, and conscious experience — while Signs of Love turns outward, questioning how contemporary systems of control, fear, and digital mediation shape human connection. Together, the works create a continuous loop between remembering and relating, feeling and communicating.
Goncharov’s Signs of Love introduces a striking visual counterpoint. Heart-shaped forms marked with familiar traffic symbols — signs of prohibition and control — confront the viewer with the contradictions of contemporary intimacy. These symbols do not dictate behavior; rather, they expose emotional boundaries shaped by trauma, fear, and virtual communication. By reframing signs of restriction into tools for reflection, the installation proposes a new language — not of regulation, but of readiness and choice.
Throughout the exhibition, movement and performance animate the space. Dancers weave through the installation, dissolving the boundary between artwork and body. Gesture, breath, and presence become part of the scenography, transforming the environment into a living, responsive organism. Visitors are no longer passive observers; they become participants, their presence completing the work.
Signs of Love. Pearls of Memories is not an exhibition to be consumed quickly. It asks for time. It asks for openness. It offers a space where art becomes a catalyst for connection — between people, between moments, and between what we remember and how we love.
